Kintsugi: Our 2018-19 Theme
October 9, 2018
Guiding our work this year is Kintsugi — the Japanese art of golden mending, which honors the damage and repairs in an object as part of its history rather than something to disguise.
With that idea in mind, we’ll explore our own vulnerabilities and the beauty that lies within the cracks and fissures. As Leonard Cohen reminded us in his song Anthem, “There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
Mark your calendar for May 9, 2019, when we’ll present our year-long exploration of Kintsugi on the stage of the Miller High Life Theatre. It’ll be here before we know it!
